Rabbi Yosef Chaim, the Ben Ish Chai, yearned to fulfill the Land of Israel mitzvahs. Therefore he hired Rabbi Eliyahu Mani, who lived in Eretz Yisrael, to purchase land for him and to act as his envoy in performing the Land of Israel mitzvahs.
